All young people have the right to social, emotional, educational, and cultural investment in their future.

We work with and for young people. We engage them through the arts, social action, and alternative education. We encourage them to value themselves by taking an active role in their learning, education, and communities. We support young people to build achievable aspirational pathways for their futures.

Values – Creativity, consistency, persistence, trust

We promote young people choosing to take part and utilise their view of the world.  We treat children and young people with respect.  We seek to develop young people’s skills and attributes rather than remedy ‘problem behaviours’. We help young people build stronger relationships and collective identities.  We advocate for them to respect and value differences. We champion the voice of young people

  • Young people feel valued
  • Young people use their voice to promote positive change
  • Increase young people’s confidence in their own creative abilities
  • Inclusive access to the arts and quality education

Over the last 20 years GHS has improved the life chances of thousands of young people aged 8- 25 who face complex transitions to adulthood. We work with young people

from across Greater Manchester. We use an ‘arts combined with youth work’ methodology to enable them to shape their own lives and lead change.

GHS offers support and services to over 200 young people seven days a week. We deliver our work from our own fit for purpose youth building, just under three miles from

Manchester City Centre. We are the only youth organisation of this kind in the whole of the Trafford Metropolitan Borough. The building has a brand-new music/digital arts

centre and modern teaching kitchen that were designed through consultation and collaboration with young people. We also have a theatre, a dance studio and several

training rooms which are set out across two floors. In addition to our work at the centre we provide borough wide ‘off site’ services at outreach settings as part of specific

contracts with key local authorities. We also work in partnership with several youth organisation and specialist agencies including police, social care, schools, sports, and

health as part of a multi-agency response.

This work is delivered under the following four strands

Education and Learning

Creative engagement

Youth Voice
